⚠️ What FydeOS Doesn't Support

While FydeOS is committed to delivering broad device compatibility and a smooth user experience, like any operating system, it does have certain known limitations. To ensure you achieve the best possible experience with FydeOS and to help you avoid potential issues, this article will highlight some of these known limitations in key areas. Specifically, we will address the support status for Chromebook devices, NVIDIA GPUs, and the Ventoy boot tool. Understanding these points will enable you to more comprehensively assess whether FydeOS aligns with your requirements.

Why Doesn’t FydeOS Support Chromebooks?

FydeOS is an operating system designed for a variety of devices, aiming to provide extensive compatibility and flexible user experiences. However, when running FydeOS on x86 architecture Chromebook devices, some components, such as sound cards, may not function properly. This is primarily because the FydeOS development team has made certain adjustments to expand support for different PC devices, including the removal of specific optimizations originally designed for Chromebook devices. Therefore, for Chromebook users who are still within the official support period, we recommend continuing to use ChromeOS.

Why FydeOS doesn’t support NVIDIA GPU

The main reason is that the open-source drivers for NVIDIA graphics cards are not yet mature. Many open-source projects rely on open-source drivers to ensure smooth operation across various devices, but NVIDIA’s drivers have always faced challenges when it comes to compatibility with open-source systems. As a result, FydeOS is currently focused on supporting hardware with more mature drivers to provide a more stable and consistent user experience.

If your device is equipped with a processor that has an Intel integrated graphics card, you may try disabling the NVIDIA graphics card in the BIOS (note that not all devices offer this option in the BIOS) and then use the Intel integrated graphics card to boot FydeOS. Additionally, you can refer to this guide for other troubleshooting solutions.

Why FydeOS doesn’t support Ventoy

FydeOS for PC is designed to be installed directly onto your hard drive. While Ventoy may allow you to boot FydeOS, it can lead to unforeseen issues, such as problems with enabling developer mode and installation failures. For the best experience, we recommend installing FydeOS for PC directly to your hard drive.
