Install Google Play Store on FydeOS

Last Updated: 2025-07-31

Before You Start

The Google Play Store requires appropriate licences from Google for distribution. Apps distributed through the Google Play Store often depend on Google’s service framework and will not function properly without official authorization from Google. However, you can configure Google Mobile Services manually using GApps.

Security Notice: Due to security upgrades in FydeOS, installing GApps requires modifying core system settings. These modifications affect system security, so please review all instructions carefully before proceeding.

Prerequisites

Before installing GApps, you need to enable Developer Mode and disable rootfs verification.

1. Enable Developer Mode

  1. Open FydeOS Settings
  2. Enable Developer Mode

Note

Notice: If Developer Mode doesn’t stay enabled after reboot, ensure your BIOS is set to UEFI mode. Developer Mode only supports UEFI mode, not Legacy mode.

2. Disable Rootfs Verification

Please refer to this tutorial to disable rootfs verification.

After completing the above steps, you can continue with the installation instructions for different FydeOS versions.

Installation Methods

Attention

Beginning from July 2025, we released “GApps Configurator”, which should work on both FydeOS v19 and later. The legacy “Open GApps Configurator” app was removed from FydeOS App Store. If your FydeOS device is still running FydeOS v18 or earlier, you should use the legacy “Open GApps Configurator” app, which can be downloaded here.

  1. Open the FydeOS App Store
  2. Go to “Made by FydeOS” section
  3. Click “GApps Configurator”
  4. Click “Install”
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions
