Through testing, we have found that FydeOS booted from a small form-factor USB stick suffers a significant performance penalty, it’s ideal to use a USB3 external SSD. For the best experience, try installing FydeOS onto your hard drive.

In addition, we have received feedback that many users have tried to install FydeOS on older hardware devices in an attempt to rejuvenate them. While this is indeed one of the benefits of FydeOS, many older hardware disks have irreversible damage caused by over-writing, resulting in significant disk i/o bottlenecks. Errors caused by hardware wear and tear are often not obvious and difficult to reproduce consistently, with ‘laggy’ being one of the more common manifestations. All consumer electronics have a finite lifetime, so if your device is old and slow, do consider replacing it or at least replacing its components.
