Which FydeOS should I download?

Choose according to where FydeOS will run. Start with the exact device model or deployment type. Your processor generation only matters after you have chosen FydeOS for PC.

Start here

  1. Deploying devices for a business, school, or other organisation? Choose FydeOS Enterprise. The images on the personal download page are not intended for centrally managed deployments.

  2. Running FydeOS inside VMware? Choose FydeOS for VMware, then select the image that matches your virtualisation host’s processor architecture.

  3. Using a single-board computer? Choose FydeOS for SBC only if your exact board or device family appears on the supported-model list.

  4. Using a laptop or tablet listed on the FydeOS for You page? Choose FydeOS for You if your exact model appears in the current supported-device list.

  5. Using a conventional Intel or AMD laptop, desktop, or mini PC? Choose FydeOS for PC, then select the correct PC variant for its CPU and graphics hardware.

FydeOS for PC, SBC, and VMware can be used without a time-limited licence, although major-version updates may have a fee. FydeOS for You and Enterprise use different licensing models. See Pricing & Licence for details.

FydeOS for PC

FydeOS for PC is the general-purpose choice for conventional x86 PCs. It is not a single universal image: after choosing this edition, you still need to match a variant to your processor and graphics hardware.

  • Check your CPU model, CPU generation, and graphics hardware before downloading.
  • The current download page marks Intel Legacy as no longer supported.
  • FydeOS does not officially support NVIDIA graphics. Systems that rely on an NVIDIA GPU may have display problems.

FydeOS for You

FydeOS for You is a device-specific edition with adaptations for selected hardware, primarily supported Microsoft Surface models. Choose it only when the exact model appears in the current supported-device list; a similar product name is not enough.

FydeOS for You includes a trial period. Continued use after the trial requires a per-device FydeOS licence. The licence is perpetual for the activated version and includes a service period for updates and support.

FydeOS for VMware

FydeOS for VMware lets you try FydeOS in VMware without installing it on a physical device. Choose the image that matches the host architecture:

  • x86_64 for Intel or AMD hosts.
  • arm64 Preview for Apple silicon, Snapdragon, and other arm64 hosts supported by VMware.

This is a preview edition for testing and evaluation. Some features are unavailable, including the Linux subsystem, OTA updates, VMware host file sharing, and parts of Android app support. It is not intended for production use.

FydeOS for SBC

FydeOS for SBC provides hardware-specific images for supported single-board computers and related ARM devices. Images are built for a particular board or device family, so do not use an image made for a different model.

The supported list changes as devices are added or retired. Use the current download page as the source of truth instead of relying on an older model list.

FydeOS Enterprise

Choose FydeOS Enterprise when devices need central enrolment, policy management, kiosk configuration, remote administration, or organisation-wide deployment. Enterprise images are obtained through the FydeOS Management Cloud rather than the personal download page.

Before you install

  • Boot the image from USB first, where supported, and check Wi-Fi, audio, graphics, touchpad, touchscreen, sleep, and other hardware you depend on.
  • A device not listed under FydeOS for You or FydeOS for SBC may still be suitable for FydeOS for PC, but hardware compatibility is not guaranteed.
  • Chromebooks can require model-specific drivers and firmware. Read FydeOS compatibility guidance before choosing a PC image.
