What is FydeOS for You?
FydeOS for You is our customised version designed for specific devices, offering enhanced adaptability and support for device-specific functions.
Please note that it is distinct from FydeOS for PC, SBC, and VMWare.
Currently, FydeOS for You primarily supports Microsoft Surface series products.
Note: Fydetab Duo does not require a separate FydeOS License for updates or operation.
What is a FydeOS License?
A FydeOS License is a perpetual license specifically for FydeOS for You release on a particular device. Once activated, it allows you to keep using the activated version of FydeOS for You permanently on that device.
Each license also includes an update period. During this period, your device can receive feature and security updates and submit support tickets.
FydeOS for PC releases do not require such a license to operate.
Why does FydeOS for You use a license model?
Developing and maintaining FydeOS for You requires device-specific optimisation, testing, and ongoing support for selected hardware models.
A device-based license model allows us to provide a stable and fair way to fund this work without relying on intrusive ads, compromising user privacy, or using other inelegant monetisation methods.
The license itself is perpetual. The included service period determines how long your device can receive updates and support benefits.
What happens when the service period ends?
Your FydeOS License remains valid after the service period ends. You can continue using the current version of FydeOS for You on the device. However, updates and support benefits will no longer be available unless you extend the service period.
My service period has expired. Can I wipe the system and manually install the latest version of FydeOS for You?
No. Your FydeOS License only grants permanent use of the version of FydeOS at the time when your FydeOS License service period expires. If you manually install the latest version of FydeOS for You on your device, you will be asked to purchase a new FydeOS License for this device, and this is not recommended.
If you wish to upgrade to the latest version of FydeOS for You on a device with expired service, you can simply extend the service period of your FydeOS License.
What happens when the trial ends?
If your trial ends, you will need to have a valid license to continue using FydeOS for You on this particular device.
How is FydeOS License priced?
FydeOS licenses are available with different update periods. Longer update periods may include discounts.
What does a FydeOS License include?
- A perpetual license to use FydeOS for You on the activated device
- Feature and security updates during the included service period
- Support benefits during the update period
Do I need to sign in?
You don’t have to. But you can link your FydeOS License to your FydeOS account if you sign in to your FydeOS account.
Can I share my FydeOS License across multiple devices?
No, FydeOS License is activated per device. If you have multiple devices that run FydeOS for You, you will need to purchase licenses for each of your devices individually.
