What is FydeOS for You?

FydeOS for You is our customised version designed for specific devices, offering enhanced adaptability and support for device-specific functions.

Please note that it is distinct from FydeOS for PC, SBC, and VMWare.

Currently, FydeOS for You primarily supports Microsoft Surface series products and our hardware, the Fydetab Duo.

Note: Fydetab Duo does not require paid updates or subscriptions.

What is the FydeOS Subscription Service?

The FydeOS for You Subscription Service is a value-added offering launched in September 2020 alongside the release of FydeOS for You.

  • Trial Period: Each device with FydeOS for You installed receives a 90-day trial from the first activation.
  • Subscription Option: If you find FydeOS for You beneficial, you can subscribe during the trial period.
  • Subscription Duration: Upon successful payment, your subscription is valid for an additional 365 days from the payment date.

Why Choose a Subscription Model on FydeOS for You?

Developing and maintaining FydeOS for You is significantly more resource-intensive than FydeOS for PC, as it requires individual optimisation for various devices and a suite of cloud services. These services are essential for delivering the full FydeOS experience but are costly to maintain.

We are committed to providing the best possible FydeOS experience without resorting to intrusive ads, compromising your privacy, or using other inelegant monetisation methods.

Additionally, we believe that subscriptions offer a more sustainable and equitable revenue model compared to donations. For the straightforward usage scenarios of FydeOS for You, a subscription fee in exchange for value-added services is the most direct and fair approach.

How is the FydeOS for You Charged?

Effective from 1st August 2023, the FydeOS subscription service costs £14.99 per year.

What Does the FydeOS for You Subscription Service Offer?

  1. Continued Access: Unrestricted use of FydeOS for You and all associated cloud services.
  2. System Updates: Receive ongoing Over-The-Air (OTA) updates directly to your FydeOS devices.
  3. Community Benefits:
    • Link your subscribed device ID to the FydeOS Community.
    • Unlock the Patron badge.
    • Create technical support tickets with responses from our dedicated support team.

What Happens If I Don’t Subscribe?

After the FydeOS for You trial period ends, if no valid subscription is detected, the system will impose usage limitations. However, you will have ample time to save your work and back up your data.
